If you love Macs but have to use a Windows PC, perhaps at work, you’ll love Snow Transformation Pack. If you’re a PC lover but would like the interface in Snow Leopard, you’ll also love Snow Transformation Pack.
You’re probably familiar with visual themes, and that’s probably what you’re expecting from Snow Transformation Pack. Indeed, that is part of what you get.
When you install Snow Transformation Pack, your Windows toolbar will reposition itself to the top of the screen, in imitation of the Menu bar on a Mac. But because Snow Transformation Pack is more than just a visual theme, the Windows toolbar will also turn into a fully functional Mac Dock.
You’ll also suddenly have the Mac’s Spaces functionality, as part of your Snow Leopard transformation. All of the Windows system icons on the desktop will take on the distinctive Mac styling, and all of your applications can be skinned to take on the Mac styling also.
If you’re thinking that having a PC that looks like a Mac would be pretty cool, you’re right, but there is something you should be aware of.
Snow Transformation Pack is free, but that doesn’t mean it’s free of cost, in terms of time and effort. There is a long, drawn out installation process. You will have to restart your system at least three times, and possibly more, and devote a large chunk of time to uploading.
That said, if you’d really like your computer to look like a Mac running Snow Leopard, and if you particularly want the dock and Spaces functionality, this free theme is a great choice. What it really comes down to is whether you plan on keeping it once you get it installed.
If you’re thinking this is something you want long-term, it’s probably worth the time and three or more restarts to install it.
